another way of joining wood is joining itat a 90 degree angle, there's two different ways or that. you can just edge to edge itand another way is to create 45 degree miter. one in this direction and in that direction,and then there will be a seamless connection. i'm now going to glue up my 45 degree edgeglued boards. first thing you need to do is apply glue to the miter corners. next takeone of the boards, lay it on its back between
different kinds of wood joints and their uses, two clamps. then take the other one and placeit to where the two miters meet up. lightly tighten the two clamps. next slide them tothe edge of the table taking two more clamps, clamping underneath the table and to the topedge of your board. lightly clamp, clamp these down also. line up your boards where you needthem to be. and then tighten each clamp equally.
the next joint we'll be gluing up is justa standard edge to edge 90 degree joint. this is very simple to glue up. all you have todo is apply glue to the edges. go to the edge of one and to the lower side of another. layingthis one on its back and this one on its edge, slide the two together. align the edges ofyour boards.and then clamp your clamps to an appropriate pressure. i'm now going to demonstrate howto just do an edge glue. this can be used if you were making a table top. what i'm goingto do first is make what's called a cabinet makers triangle. it's just a triangle thatyou make over top the joint and what this is to do is to when you're gluing it up it'sto make sure you're getting proper alignment. what i'll do next is apply glue to the edges.and then same as with the other joints place
the boards between the clamps. i'm going toline up my cabinet makers triangle and then apply light pressure. and then recheck thetriangle. make sure the boards are flush. and then leavefor the appropriate amount of time. for example these joints should be left probably at least3 hours before being unclamped and about 6 to 8 hours before you work on any machines.
