today we are going to build this drillpress and planar stand as part of my ongoing garage makeover series. check itout let's take a quick peek at the featureshere. up top i've got a benchtop drill press and i'm a tall guy so its upnice and high for me. down below i've got the outfeed on this side for the planarwhich is an entire garage stall there and i just have to clear a few thingsout. and then this side is the in feed and i've got a good 12 feet back to mybench which is a mess because i'm redoing the garage. power comes outthat side and you have to be kind of careful when you're designing thesethings to make sure the power
doesn't come out the wrong side. theadjustment is here so i had to leave a little bit of a window there. there'sactually one little knob to get to down through here but i don't think i'll bechanging that much. so that worked out well. the other thing i did was insteadof just making this the width of the column there... you know we all have thesecolumns... i extended it out a little bit so i can put my bench grinder there.those are all my drill bits and taps and all that kind of stuff. i feel good cnc project coming on for theorganization of all that stuff. and down below i left room almost not really ashelf they all kind of sit on the ground
but for the big tool boxes that i haveso i have a place to store those things those are some of the most difficultthings i find a store. in the next week or so i'm going to be installing poweron this side of the column over there so that i can run all the equipment that ihave on this little island. the perforated metal is something that i hadthat i had taken off a sculpture that i built a long time ago and that sculpturemet its demise by getting cut into pieces and taken to the scrapyard but ikept all the perforated metal because i like it. i do still have room underhere for some kind of a drawer or something and there might be one thatgoes under there above the drill bit so
