can i turn this mess into a wallworkbench? first i have to clean out the area. do you like howthe previous owner didn't finish the drywall behind the cabinet i mark theheight of the wall, find the stud, and drill a hole for the lag screw. i mark the spot on the wall for the holeand drill into the stud. i fasten one side of two-by-four and using a leveli find where to put the other screw. i take the two-by-four back off the walland cut five cross pieces i fastened those roughly every two feet. the centerone is off a little bit away where the lag screw went. after i started to put thistogether i realized it wasn't going to leave me
enough overhang in front for clamping soi cut off another inch and a half and reattached the boards then i attach another two-by-four for thefront. and now i place it back on the wall. nowwhen i had to board up first i forgot to drill holes for the other lag screws. soi drill them into two-by-four, drop the frame down. drill 'em into the wall. putthe frame back in place and put all the lag screws in. i cut the three legs. using alevel i set the bench as level as i can get it and fasten the legs with screws, one in the middle and one on each end. now i place first layer of the benchtop. it's half of a sheet of 23 thirty-seconds inch plywood.
after placing it where i want it i just screw it down. if the bench now looks shorter it's because it is. i decided that i made it too high first soi dropped it down so the top of the would be about 36 inches off the floor. i put a second layer of twenty threethirty-seconds inch plywood. lined it up, clamp it in place, and screw it down. because this wall, like most, is notstraight there's a gap between the wall and the bench. i'm going to make a littlelip out a quarter-inch plywood to prevent little things from falling downbehind it. because i didn't i know they would. i attach it with some screws in the studs and i use some hollow wall anchors where there's
no stud. i bet this bench will never look this uncluttered again. i have a crude sketchup file available. see the link in the description below. if this your first time here please subscribe so you won't miss any future videos. plus, you can be in an exclusive group if you join my facebook page or follow me on twitter. if you enjoyed this video please like andshare with your friends. if you didn't enjoy this video please share it with that place that keepsspamming your inbox.
