tools for an electrician, basic. i'm robertmarkey, and i've been doing construction for many years, and we're going to talk aboutoutfitting a basic electrical electrician's toolbox, okay? and there aren't a lot of toolshere, but these will get you through about ninety percent of what most electricians do,okay. screwdriver; if you can you're going to have a few screwdrivers, or you can getone of these multi ones that going to do everything by itself. very important, okay, this is atester. you stick it in an outlet. if the outlet is hot it goes on, so before you doanything; changing a box or anything like that, you're going to make sure you do that,so this is necessary. needle nose pliers for twisting wires, for cutting wires. a stripper, and there are lots of different kinds of these.

you can get fancy ones that as you do it itpops the ends of the wires off. you can get little very cheap ones that don't even havethe specific grooves, but you kind of just do it until you think it's right, and thisis just kind of a nice one here, okay. this is another one only it has a couple more uses.it's not necessary, but kind of nice. it has a crimper in the end, it has a wire cutterright there, and its got its strippers right there, okay. cable stripper for taking theoutside of your your wire cable off; this is what you use. pull it, and then the cablecomes right off, okay. now, the screwdriver; now that's, for tools that's pretty much it,but in that toolbox you also want to have a roll of electrical tape, and it's nice tohave a collection of wire nuts and staples,

so i just tend to put all this stuff, anda few more conduits, put all this stuff in a box so when you need it you don't have togo grab something else. but this is pretty much what you need. i'm robert markey, andwe've been talking about your basic electrician's toolbox.
